Fast and accurate

By BeagleGrin

This review is from: Omron BP785 10 Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor, Black/white, Large

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I work as a MA, and found this product to be fast and extremily accurate! I didn't use it on patients, I used it on family members who were skeptical about auto cuff type blood pressure cuffs.
I compared the readings to manual checked BP's and this was spot on.
The only complaint I heard was occasionally some felt the cuff was tight. I firmly believe to get an accurate reading a cuff does have to fit snug but NOT PAIN CAUSING TIGHT. This cuff stated it was a large and just barely fit a petite slightly elderly person. I think they do need to go back to the drawing board on the cuff sizing.
Over all, fast, easy, accurate, HOWEVER, bad cuff sizing and often "too tight" prevents this one from getting a five star rating.

Excellent low priced monitor

By Pravin

This review is from: Omron BP785 10 Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor, Black/white, Large

I used this BP785 10 series upper arm blood pressure monitor for about 20 readings in first month after receipt for me and my wife. It was quite useful gadget for home use. I took it to my GP and we found that it was hoher by 3 to 4 in Diastolic pressure. I wish it could be recalibrated easily to get exact readings every time. The power socket is US one and in New Zealand we need 230V 50 HZ, which prohibits me to use it with mains. I would still rate it by 80/100 marks.

Great monitor with one minor weakness

By Dennis E. Lietz

This review is from: Omron BP785 10 Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor, Black/white, Large

I have had this monitor for about a month now and used it nearly daily. It is very accurate, matching both doctor's office and drugstore monitors quite well. It is easy to set up and use but does have one minor weakness. The cuff is difficult to line up properly on the arm and the icon signaling improper alignment appears too often. It is really aggravating when it gets two of the three readings properly and somehow slips before the third one can be obtained. If this could somehow be alleviated, this monitor would easily rate the full five stars.

Easy to use and very precise

By George C. Targonski (Sayreville, NJ)

This review is from: Omron BP785 10 Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor, Black/white, Large

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I didn't really know anything about blood pressure monitors until I got this thing. It is surprisingly very easy to use and seems to be rugged with a professional cuff. It comes with a Quick Start guide to get you up and running within minutes - much easier to use than an mp3 player!

The main buttons are big enough for elderly users to navigate easily. There is one big switch labeled "A" and "B" so that two people can share the unit which will average each person's blood pressure. The average is really what is most important. Simply put the easy-to-fit cuff on your arm and press the big "Start/Stop" button. The cuff inflates, the numbers climb and lower (reminiscent of a slot machine), the cuff deflates, and the reading is shown.

I say it is precise because it gave the same readings over and over for me. Later my BP was a little different, but again it gave consistent readings at the later time. I have no way of knowing whether it is accurate without comparing it to a more reliable machine, but I have no reason to doubt it.

Setting the date and time is optional, and is covered in the Quick Start guide. It is no harder than setting the clock on you VCR, but we all know how many people find that challenging. It can be used with either the AC adapter (included) or 4 AA batteries. Since the thing has a pump to inflate the cuff, I suspect that it would use up the batteries pretty quickly - I'm not sure.

A nice device that I'm happy with.
